2nd week in Development

Week 2

Our accomplishments:

1. NPC Dialogue/Script---------(Completed 1/29/2014)
2. Side Quests-------------------(Completed 1/29/2014)
3. Cutscenes Dialogue/Script-----(Still in Progress)
4. Side Quest Script--------------(Still in Progress)

YES! I was able to finish 69 Scripts for the NPCs! It wasn't easy creating of what every NPC had to say, but I'm glad it's finally over. Adrian liked what I wrote too. I hope that the future players will also enjoy reading what every NPC has to say.

Adrian and I never really thought of including side quests into Crescent Dreams. The idea came out while I was typing the NPC scripts. "Since I started it, I might as well continue and add more!" So I included a handy number of side quests. It's really simple, and fun :)

Adrian is in charge for the Cutscenes Script. However he got sick during our second week for CD. He was able to type at least 10% of the game script. (he promised he would finish it today... lol)

I'm in-charge for the Side Quest Script (because I created the Side quests, naturally). I separated this segment from the NPC Script since it might confuse Adrian (who also happens to be the programmer). I'm 20% done with this segment though.

And there you have it!
As much as I would like to include pictures (to make this blog less boring), I can't. I guess I'll put pictures this weekend.

Thanks for reading our update! Wait for CD's release, okay?

1st week in Development

WEEK 1

January 15= Adrian & I committed to work on Crescent Dreams
January 22= Our first week into development. How did we fare?

WE DID GREAT!

What we accomplished:

1. CutscenesList --------------------------------------------(COMPLETED 1/16/2014)
2. Story flow/ written narrative of Chapter 1 ------------(COMPLETED 1/17/2014)
3. Character Profiles-----------------------------------------(COMPLETED 1/20/2014)
4. Worldbuilding---------------------------------------------(COMPLETED 1/20/2014)
5. Enemy Profiles--------------------------------------------(COMPLETED 1/22/2014)

The list above pertains to Crescent Dreams Chapter 1. We still have the script to finish. I'm working on the NPC scripts, while Adrian is doing the script for the entire story.

Once we finish the scripts, we'll brainstorm about the things we want to implement in the game and proceed to the graphics aspect.

So far so good. We planned for this stage to last for a month, but it looks like we've managed to accomplish 50% within a week!

Until my next post!

Crescent Dreams Model for Development

THE CRESCENT DREAMS GAME DEVELOPMENT MODEL

The above image sums up our planned model in creating Crescent Dreams.

Adrian and I decided to tackle the development "Bit-by-Bit" or "Chunk-by-Chunk" . We would focus our attention on one aspect first before jumping to another. By this process, our efforts wouldn't be fragmented.

In our previous projects, Adrian and I would immediately jump into the graphics development (since we're both artists). Our previous processes mostly prioritized the graphics aspect of the game.
Today, we would dabble on graphics, then we would brainstorm about concepts.
Looking back, it was a very messy process and more often than not, our games had no direction.

But we plan to change that with CD's development. We commit to make a change and make a difference. It may not seem a lot, but for us, it is.

First Post!

Greetings!

This is Arthy, the artist posting for dustycat media's rpg Crescent Dreams. (formerly title Crescent Dream).
Crescent Dream was an OHRRPGCE game Adrian (my partner) made by himself way back in 2003. Recently, we decided to focus our attention in finishing Chapter 1 and port an improved version to rpgmaker

I decided to create a dev blog for a game. A documentation and proof that it exists.
To anyone who's interested to follow our game's development, thank you for reading!
